Summary
Power in the ordinary sense is the ability to overcome limits on one’s capacity to act. On Heidegger’s ontological interpretation of power, power is an essential aspect of the experience of entities in the technological age (see Technology). The drive for power is the imperative that shapes the contemporary, technological world, as a result of which entities show up as incapable of making demands on us or constraining the ways in which they are used (see GA7:91/EP 104).
