Summary
Heidegger understands metaphysics in the fourth sense as a philosophical expression that manifests and “preserves in words” a metaphysic in the third sense. We can have a metaphysic in the third sense – a particular position within or understanding of the being of entities – because of metaphysics in the second sense – because we are beings who transcend entities (see Transcendence).
