Summary
“Cognition” can denote both the process of acquiring knowledge, and the result of such a process, for instance a known proposition. The activity of acquiring knowledge (Erkennen) involves different kinds of veridical perception, ranging from truthfully recognizing objects to gaining philosophical insights about human nature.
