Summary

A 34-year-old man presents to the operating room following an open globe injury scheduled for operative repair. He was assaulted in a bar fight 2 hours prior to arrival and remains in a cervical collar. The ophthalmologist declared the case a surgical emergency. He is edentulous with a Mallampati class 3 score on exam. Vital signs are heart rate 112, respiratory rate 16, and blood pressure 105/56 mm Hg. What are your anesthetic concerns? How will you manage the airway?
