A single specimen of the African spadefish, Tripterodon orbis, was landed in a gill net operating off Visakhapatnam on 13 December 2013. The morphometric and meristic characters of the recorded specimen are described and discussed herein. This is the first occurrence of the species from the north-east coast of India, exhibiting an extension in distribution from the southern to the northern region, along the Bay of Bengal.

Two specimens of Stegastes fasciolatus of total length 110.1 mm and 112.2 mm were collected from gillnet at Visakhapatnam fishing harbour, north-east coast of India on 5 January 2013. The morphometric and meristic characters of the recorded specimens are described and discussed.

Delicate shallow-water sea pens were collected from Mangamaripeta fish landing centre of Visakhapatnam, India where they were brought in along with the fish catch. The sea pens were preserved and identified as Cavernularia obesa Valenciennes in Milne Edward & Haime, 1850. The species is being recorded for the first time from these waters.

Mantis shrimp larvae were collected by a shore seine net operated at Nagamayapalem, Visakhapatnam, India at a depth of 10–12 m during the early hours of 20 March 2008. Larvae were classified into one group and were identified to a single species of the genus Harpiosquilla. Although mantis shrimp larvae have been found in these waters, there have been no studies that identify them to the species level.
