Acute haemorrhagic conjunctivitis is a highly contagious eye disease, the prediction of acute haemorrhagic conjunctivitis is very important to prevent and grasp its development trend. We use the exponential smoothing model and the seasonal autoregressive integrated moving average (SARIMA) model to analyse and predict. The monthly incidence data from 2004 to 2017 were used to fit two models, the actual incidence of acute haemorrhagic conjunctivitis in 2018 was used to validate the model. Finally, the prediction effect of exponential smoothing is best, the mean square error and the mean absolute percentage error were 0.0152 and 0.1871, respectively. In addition, the incidence of acute haemorrhagic conjunctivitis in Chongqing had a seasonal trend characteristic, with the peak period from June to September each year.

This work deals with prediction of IBNR reserve under a different data ordering of the non-cumulative runoff triangle. The rows of the triangle are stacked, resulting in a univariate time series with several missing values. Under this ordering, two approaches entirely based on state space models and the Kalman filter are developed, implemented with two real data sets, and compared with two well-established IBNR estimation methods — the chain ladder and an overdispersed Poisson regression model. The remarks from the empirical results are: (i) computational feasibility and efficiency; (ii) accuracy improvement for IBNR prediction; and (iii) flexibility regarding IBNR modeling possibilities.

A method for analysing the risk of taking a too low reserve level by the use of Chain Ladder method is developed. We give an answer to the question of how much safety loading in terms of the Chain Ladder standard error has to be added to the Chain Ladder reserve in order to reach a specified security level in loss reserving. This is an important question in the framework of integrated risk management of an insurance company. Furthermore we investigate the relative bias of Chain Ladder estimators. We use Monte Carlo simulation technique as well as the collective model of risk theory in each cell of run-off table. We analyse deviation between Chain Ladder reserves and Monte Carlo simulated reserves statistically. Our results document dependency on claim number and claim size distribution types and parameters.

A spectral density statistic obtained by averaging periodograms over overlapping time intervals is considered where the periodograms are calculated using a data window. The asymptotic mean square error of this estimate for scale parameter windows is determined and, as an example, it is shown that the use of the Tukey–Hanning window leads partially to a smaller mean square error than a window suggested by Kolmogorov and Zhurbenko. Furthermore the Tukey–Hanning window is independent of the unknown spectral density, which is not the case for the Kolmogorov–Zhurbenko window. The mean square error of this estimate is also less than the mean square error of commonly used window estimates. Finally, a central limit theorem for the estimate is established.
