Summary
This is the proceedings of a symposium in complex analysis held at the University of Kent, Canterbury, 1973. The financial support for this symposium came from S. R. C., NATO and the University of Kent. The organising committee consisted of J. Clunie, W. H. J. Fuchs, W. K. Hayman, M. E. Noble, Ch. Pommerenke and J. Shackell.
The first part of the proceedings contains contributions from the participants in the symposium. Almost all of these contributions are abstracts of talks given at the symposium.
A similar conference was held at Imperial College in 1964 and arising from this W. K. Hayman collected a number of problems and these were published by the Athlone Press in 1967 with the title ‘Research problems in function theory’. In the second part of the proceedings W. K. Hayman gives a progress report on work on these earlier problems, and then gives a list of problems that arose from the present symposium.
The organisers of the symposium would like to thank Miss Christine von Baumann at the University of Kent and Miss Pat Edge at Imperial College for the secretarial help they have provided. Such help was given before and during the symposium and also with the preparation of these proceedings.
