Summary
This chapter details the evidence needed for every higher learning outcome against the key capabilities outlined in the forensic psychiatry curriculum. The RCPsych Purpose statement states that the purpose of forensic psychiatry is the assessment, care and treatment of essentially mentally disordered offenders and other patients presenting with risks (especially to others) such that they require specialist risk management usually in a secure setting. Risk assessment and management and the prevention of further victimisation are core elements of this.
