Purshottam Das, chaudhrī of pargana Jamli and Hindola is told that his ͑arz̤dāsht has arrived. He had written that the good people of the area had been displaced and the well-being of qasba Sultanpur disturbed by the behaviour of the karōrī (imperial or jagīrdār’s tax-collector). A note has been sent to the karōrī about this, it (the note) should be reached to him and mutual satisfaction should be established so that you (the addressee) can engage yourself in the real aim – populating the area and increasing the earnings from agriculture. Marginal note probably repeats this – to be read.
