On ‘New’ Comets and the Size of the Cometary Cloud

By means of the Oort-Schmidt definition of ‘new’ comets, Sekanina's catalogue of original and future orbits, and the 2σ and 3σ rules, we have compiled a list of 33 ‘new’ comets. We draw some conclusions concerning the size of the cometary cloud.
