Special Issue Call for Papers for 2026

Special Issue of Studies in Second Language Acquisition, July 2026

Call for Proposals

Studies in Second Language Acquisition (SSLA) is now entertaining proposals for the thematic issue of Volume 48:3, to be published in July 2026. Thematic issues of SSLA focus on areas of current interest and are an excellent venue to bring together in one issue numerous approaches to a problem or methodology in the field of SLA. For special issue examples, see previous special volumes of SSLA. For examples of previous winning proposals, please click here.

A proposal should include (a) a rationale (up to two single-spaced pages plus references) for the thematic issue and (b) tentative titles and abstracts (250-300 words) from the authors of the manuscripts that the editor intends or expects to include. Part (b) can also include a list of possible topics and/or names of authors that may be invited to contribute. Note that the articles in a special issue can belong to any of the article types published in SSLA. These include: Research article, Critical Commentary, Research Report, Replication Studies, Methods Forum, and State-of-the-Scholarship Review.
