The American Political Science Association’s 2015 Annual Meeting & Exhibition will be held in San Francisco from September 3–6.
Program cochairs Layna Mosley, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and Alvin Bernard Tillery, Northwestern University, will focus on the theme “Diversities Reconsidered: Politics, and Political Science, in the 21st Century.” The full statement can be reviewed on the Annual Meeting webpage.
An anticipated 6,000 political scientists will participate in the three and half days of sessions – with more than 800 panels from which to choose. The 800 panels are developed by 55 divisions and more than 60 related groups. This year, two new divisions will participate: Political Epistemology and Class and Inequality. The preliminary program will be available at the end of May.
In addition to the educational sessions, meeting highlights include the presidential address by Rodney Hero, University of California, Berkeley; the opening reception; career placement; the APSA awards ceremony; university and affiliate meetings and receptions; and an exhibit hall with more than 100 publishers, classroom software technology providers, and more.
Attendees are encouraged to take time to explore San Francisco outside of the program. San Francisco is often called “Everybody’s Favorite City,” a title earned by its scenic beauty, cultural attractions, diverse communities, and world-class cuisine. Measuring 49 square miles, this very walk-able city is dotted with landmarks like the Golden Gate Bridge, cable cars, Alcatraz, and the largest Chinatown in the United States. A stroll of the city’s streets can lead from Union Square to North Beach to Fisherman’s Wharf, with intriguing neighborhoods to explore at every turn. Views of the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay are often laced with fog, creating a romantic mood in this most European of American cities.
