Dairy breeding for grazing systems

In seasonal production systems feed requirements for production are matched to pasture supply, thus feed efficiency and achieving a single concentrated seasonal calving pattern are likely to be more important than in non-seasonal systems. Breeding objectives and choice of breeds are discussed, using New Zealand (NZ) as an example.
