1 However, in the course of the legislative process for the enactment of the law, a political compromise was struck in the Diet to freeze the operation of the particular section of the law pertaining to this type of peacekeeping operation, because it was agreed to be premature for Japan to engage in the full-fledged participation in peacekeeping operations going beyond purely logistical support.
