Radiation Effects in Chloride Molten Salt Compositions

Abstract

Radiation effects on the composition of NaCl (70 mole %) and PbC12 (30 mole %) salts irradiated by a high energy accelerator proton beam were analyzed. In the temperature interval from ∼50 to ∼1200 °C this composition can be considered as radiation-resistant material, that can be recommended for use as target material for accelerator-driven transmutation systems.
