Abstract

Over the years there have been hundreds of papers written on benefication of fly ash to extract alumina, magnetite, activated carbon, cenospheres, etc., and to enhance the properties of the fly ash itself for concrete making purposes. Several of the processes have been patented. Few of them have been exploited commercially. We examine some of the more popular processes, the history of their success or failure, and current achievements with fly ash beneficated for use in Portland cement concrete.
