After many years of publishing with Cambridge University Press, the Microscopy Society of America (MSA) will be moving its publication portfolio to Oxford University Press. The new publishing agreement will begin January 1, 2023. Oxford and MSA will partner to publish MSA's flagship and top-ranked research journal, Microscopy and Microanalysis, and its notable technical periodical, Microscopy Today. In addition, Oxford will host and continue to publish the long-standing and historic M&M Proceedings.

The new publishing partnership will keep in place the well-known formats for the MSA publication portfolio and build on the established brand of both organizations. MSA offers an 80-year reputation as an interdisciplinary scientific society in featuring equipment and techniques development and their applications in both the biological and physical sciences. The publications are followed by a global audience, and Oxford University Press’ experience and expertise in the strategic development of society journals will ensure that MSA's content continues to reach imaging communities worldwide.

Deb Kelly, President of MSA, said, “We look forward to working with Oxford University Press and positively contributing to their outstanding reputation in the publishing world. As we look to expand the vibrant imaging and analysis work which makes our publications unique, we expect the new partnership to brilliantly excel in disseminating our publications to the broader scientific community.”

Jennifer Paxton-Boyd, Director of Publications, indicated that Oxford University Press is delighted to partner with MSA to advance its mission and the advancement of interdisciplinary research. Oxford University Press offers a rich and varied family of several society publications that complement the MSA portfolio, and Oxford looks forward to a partnership that will serve MSA members and the wider biological and physical sciences research communities.
