The Impact Factor data for 2006 is in, and we are pleased to announce that Microscopy and Microanalysis is ranked #2 among microscopy journals by the ISI Web of Science (Thomson Scientific). This ranking is based on the 2006 Impact Factor of 2.11 (an increase from the 2005 Impact Factor of 1.88).
Our web-based submission and peer-review system, ManuscriptCentral developed by ScholarOne, has been “live” for 12 months. The encouraging first-year results indicate that the average time from manuscript submission to print publication has been reduced by several months; online posting of accepted papers occurs even sooner. I invite authors to submit new manuscripts. It is easy—just go to the following website:

I would like to remind society members who subscribe to Microscopy and Microanalysis that they also have electronic access to the journal. This includes access to all previous articles back to Volume 1, Number 1 (1995) and the Proceedings back to 2002. Check the login instructions on the back of your address sheet.
