Page No 304 Note * The Eigenwerte of this problem are also the Eigenwerte of a certain Fredholm integral equation, and so are nothing other than the latent roots of the associated infinite matrix. Is it too late to ask that the well-established English terminology of matrix theory be used in the theory of differential and integral equations instead of such hybrids as Eigenvalue, Eigenfunctions, etc.?
