In my publication of this material in JHS LX 2-21, I stated that no East Greek pottery had been found of a date later than about 600 B.C. (certain fragments of ’Rhodian’ B from levels 5-7), and that this left a gap in the Greek contacts of the site, since the next appearance was the Attic of level 4, the earliest piece of which is dated by Professor Beazley (JHS LIX 1) to about 525 B.C. Sir Leonard Woolley, discussing this gap in JHS LVIII 20 ff., concluded that it was accidental and did not imply that relations had actually ceased during that time. Mr. Sidney Smith, in a most interesting article in the Antiquaries' Journal, XXII, 87 ff., contended that the absence of finds was no accident but represented a real break. While working recently over some of the unpublished fragments, I found one which does something to support Sir Leonard Woolley's view.
