A device for measuring and sampling urine output from free-grazing steers

Summary

A non-surgical device which collects a pre-determined proportion of the urine voided by free grazing male cattle is described. The behaviour of animals trained to wear the collection equipment was similar to that of their contemporaries without the equipment. The performance and maintenance of the device are discussed.
