Dr Adenirin Chabi-Olaye (1962–2011)

It is with deepest regret that we announce the death of Dr Adenirin Chabi-Olaye, a member of the International Journal of Tropical Insect Science Editorial Board, who tragically passed away on Sunday 9 January 2011, in a road accident in Benin. Adenirin had been on IJT's Board since 2008 in addition to serving as a reviewer of numerous IJT articles.

At icipe, he was a Senior Scientist and Co-ordinator of the icipe Leafminer Project. Throughout his far too short career as a scientist, Adenirin had published widely and made tremendous contributions to entomology in Africa and beyond. In addition, he will be remembered as a passionate and patient mentor of young scientists.

We at the Journal and at icipe will remember Adenirin as an excellent scientist, a wonderful colleague, and a great friend who will be missed dearly.
