P-684 - the Differences in Socioeconomic Status and Criminological Characteristics Between Schizophrenic and Non-schizophrenic Perperators of Criminal Acts

Abstract
This paper deals with the study of differences in socioeconomic status between schizophrenic and non-schizophrenic perpetrators of criminal acts, to examine the fundamental assumption under which will be considered how schizophrenic perpetrators of criminal acts will have poorer socioeconomic status, and earlier start of criminal behavior. the sample of this survey is consisted of 234 perpetrators of criminal acts, of which 31 schizophrenic participants and 203 non-schizophrenic examinee evaluated at the Center for Forensic Psychiatry, Psychiatry Clinic Vrapče (Zagreb, Croatia) in 2005. , and data were collected from the psychiatric expertise.
In order to accomplish the survey's objectives, we used the specifically designed SFK questionnaire for the purpose of this study that contains socio-demographic, forensic - psychiatric and criminological data of the examinee. Data were analyzed by using SPSS 17 software as well as descriptive and discriminant methods of analysis. Results of this conducted research that have been obtained, have opened up new areas of preventive options in working with forensic population.
