1 Some valuable details of Allen's collations are preserved in the interleaved copy of Ludwich's Odyssey which he acquired in 1904, now in the library of the Ashmolean Museum. These notes were evidently entered piecemeal, and their untidy, cramped arrangement might suggest that Allen was insufficiently alert to the danger of confusing his data.
