page 128 note a John Frescheville, created Lord Prescheville in 1664, ob. s.p. 1682. This was the gentleman who claimed to sit in the House of Peers under a Writ of Summons to his lineal ancestor Ralph de Prescheville in 1297; but, not being able to prove that his ancestor sat in parliament under his summons, he was unsuccessful in his claim. The case is still a leading one in Peerage Law.

page 129 note a John Butler, D.D. Canon of Windsor 1668–9, died 1682.

page 129 note b Gabriel de Beauvoir, M.D. who was, like the testator, a native of Guernsey. See Munk's Roll of the College of Physicians, i. 274.
