[5 September 1637, at Ingatestone, Essex, before Arthur Duck, Vicar-General to Bishop Juxon.]

Injunctio ad clerum

  • To bowe at the name of Jesus.

  • The communion table to be rayled.

  • Their prayers before the sermon to be short according to the canon.

  • To catechise and especially the schoolemasters according to the Church catechism.

  • To stand up at the gospell the creed and Gloria Patri.

  • Inioynd to have responsails in the service.

  • To observe holydayes which are now out of use in these parts.

  • None to hold a lecture but by publicke allowance.

  • Complaint of the disorder of many ministers in drinking etc.

  • Monisht not to marry by the archdeacons authority. And the officiali Mr Harvey. sayes that he may then bring them to the Bishop of Londons or my Lord of Canterburys office if he can not doe them himself.
