Summary

Islamic environmental law has the potential to reframe the environmental legal system and thus could contribute further gravity to international efforts for climate action. In fact, Islamic environmental law could benefit from the opportunity offered at the global level. On one hand, it could benefit from the global ecological movements based on religion and spirituality (Eco-Islam). On the other hand, it could connect to the civil society movement related to environmental justice and protecting the climate system, especially the Atmospheric Trust litigation. Moreover, Islamic environmental law could benefit from the revival of the Waqf as part of the SDGs agenda.
