The royal writ for parliament

Rex venerabili in Christo patri Willelmo, eadem gratia Eboracensi archiepiscopo Angliae primati, salutem. Quia pro magnis et arduis negotiis nos et statum regni nostri multipliciter contingentibus parliamentum nostrum apud Wintoniam die Dominica proxima ante festum Sancti Gregorii papae proximo futura [11 March 1330] tenere et vobiscum et cum ceteris praelatis, magnatibus et proceribus dicti regni habere disposuimus colloquium et tractatum, vobis mandamus in fide et dilectione quibus nobis tenemini firmiter iniungentes quod omnibus aliis praetermissis, dictis die et loco personaliter intersitis nobiscum ac cum ceteris praelatis, magnatibus et proceribus praedictis super dictis negotiis tractaturi, vestrumque consilium impensuri. Praemunientes decanum et capitulum ecclesiae vestrae Beati Petri Eboracensis, archidiaconos, totumque clerum vestrae diocesis, quod iidem decanus et archidiaconi in propriis personis suis dictumque capitulum per unum, idemque clerus per duos procuratores idoneos plenam et sufficientem potestatem ab ipsis capitulo et clero habentes, dictis die et loco intersint ad faciendum et consentiendum his quae tune ibidem de communi consilio divina favente dementia ordinari contigerit super negotiis antedictis. Et hoc sicut nos et honorem nostrum et vestrum ac salvationem regni nostri diligitis nullatenus omittatis. Teste meipso apud Eltham vicesimo quinto die Ianuarii anno regni nostri quarto [25 January 1330].

A vestra memoria non excidit, ut speramus, qualiter nuper apud Eltham in praesentia vestra et aliorum praelatorum et procerum de regno nostro, quos tune ibidem pro magnis et arduis negotiis nostris fecimus congregari, exposita fuerunt inter alia, negotia contingentia nos et regem Franciae et post diligentem tractatum inde habitum, tarn vobis quam ipsis videbatur, quod pro pace habenda cum ipso rege esset omnibus modis et viis quibus possemus, absque exhaeredationis periculo insistendis. Et si forsan idem rex vias pacis rationabiles recusaret, et ad exharedationem nostram, quoad ducatum praedictum, et alias terras quas haberemus sub dominio suo niteretur, quod ad defensionem nostram contra ipsum cum Dei adiutorio vires nostras apponere deberemus, et ad hoc tarn vos quam ceteri praelati et magnates tune ibidem existentes praebuistis consilium, et promisistis opem et auxilium apponere opportuna, sed super hoc concordatum extitit, quod parliamentum nostrum apud Wintoniam ad diem Dominicam proximo ante festum Sancti Gregorii papae proximo praeteritum [11 March 1330] summoned faceremus.
