Summary
Generally speaking, the cell is the basic functional unit of any tissue. While individual tissues and organs have specific roles, it is the cells that ultimately undertake those activities. Within the cell itself, there are numerous structures and proteins that are required to ensure the cell can successfully perform its tasks [1]. These are listed in Tables 28.1 and 28.2.
