Summary
The only procedure presently available for group litigation in Singapore is the representative proceeding provided for by Order 15 Rule 12 of the Singapore Rules of Court. Although legislation may provide for representative action in specific instances, such as under section 85 of the Building Maintenance and Strata Management Act, which enables a management corporation to bring proceedings on behalf of the subsidiary proprietors of a building or to defend an action on their behalf, this chapter focuses on Order 15 Rule 12 as being widely applicable.
