Summary
This book calls for bold thinking about the future of libraries globally. During the time it was written, Covid-19 was an unknown phenomenon. Who could have predicted its inexorable rise and severe consequences that will have a long-lasting impact on the world? We would like to acknowledge that the disruption caused by Covid-19 is unparalleled and has led to much sadness but has accelerated the need for the library and information profession to adapt quickly and move boldly forwards with innovations and new approaches to service delivery.
To identify and action the required changes at speed and scale has indeed required strong leadership and collaboration between many sectors and library communities. It is testament to the enduring nature of librarianship, and the resilience of our respective staff, that recovery means libraries are reenvisioning and re-opening to the delight of their patrons. Aspects of the brave new future are perhaps already here.
