  • Published for The British Society for the History of Science. This leading international journal publishes scholarly papers and review articles on all aspects of the history of science. History of science is interpreted widely to include medicine, technology and social studies of science. BJHS papers make important and lively contributions to scholarship and the journal has been an essential library resource for more than thirty years. It is also used extensively by historians and scholars in related fields. A substantial book review section is a central feature. There are four issues a year, comprising an annual volume of over 600 pages.

  • The Cambridge Journal of Postcolonial Literary Inquiry is a new peer-review journal that aims to deepen our grasp of postcolonial literary history, while enabling us to stay comprehensively informed of all critical developments in the field.   • English Language and Linguistics, published four times a year, is an international journal which focuses on the description of the English language within the framework of contemporary linguistics.     Articles cover a wealth of topics, ranging from major reviews of the prehistoric and historic archaeology of Europe and neighbouring regions, to reports on key archaeological discoveries set within a European context, to cutting-edge research and debates on science-based archaeology, archaeological method and theory, public archaeology and the history of archaeology, to interviews reflecting upon the life and work of significant European archaeologists.
    All articles are published with short, accessible abstracts in English, French and German. Instructions for contributors are available here. Submissions should follow the style guidelines and total no more than 8,000 words (with bibliography).

International Journal of Asian Studies
  • The International Journal of Asian Studies (IJAS) is an interdisciplinary, English-language forum for research in the humanities and social sciences. Its purpose is to foster multi-directional communication in the global Asian studies community. IJAS examines Asia as a region, emphasizing patterns and tendencies that go beyond the borders of individual countries. The Editors welcome theoretical and empirical research, including interdisciplinary approaches that cross methodological boundaries, comparative perspectives that draw on data from multiple regions, and the development of new methodologies. The International Review of Social History (IRSH) is one of the leading journals in the field of social history, more in particular the history of work, workers, and labour relations, defined in the broadest possible sense, including workers’ struggles, organizations, and associated social, cultural, and political movements, both in the modern and the early modern periods, and across periods. IRSH is an online-only journal that aims to be truly global in scope and stresses the need for a comparative perspective that acknowledges the interrelationship of historical change and the phenomena and factors underlying that change. We welcome submissions from all over the world that deal with the social history of work, workers, and labour relations, explored on a local, regional, national, or transnational level, but always with an eye to how they contribute to a better understanding of what constitutes global labour history.

    Areas covered include the life and work of slaves, wage labourers, artisans, peasants, and the self-employed; related issues of class, gender, age, and race and ethnicity; social, cultural, and political movements, including the intellectual ideas that played a part in those movements; citizenship; theoretical and methodological issues; and the environment and ecology in relation to the social.

    Submissions that fall within this range of themes and topics in the field of social history of work and workers are welcomed, particularly those providing a comparative, transnational, or transcontinental perspective.

Journal of Chinese History
  • The Journal of Chinese History / publishes research articles, review essays, and book reviews on all periods of Chinese history and all sub-specialties of history—social, cultural, political, economic, and intellectual. The journal aims to keep its readers abreast of important trends in historical scholarship and welcomes inquiries about review essays and special issues on focused topics. Innovative articles of any length will be considered, but there is a preference for articles of broad interest to Chinese historians and ones of moderate length (8,000 to 14,000 words).

Journal of French Language Studies
  • The Journal of French Language Studies is a bilingual journal that publishes significant work on French theoretical and applied linguistics including but not limited to synchronic and diachronic studies focusing on phonetics/phonology, morphology, syntax, lexis and semantics. Sociolinguistic, variation, corpus, first and second language acquisition, Natural Language Processing (NLP), Global South, digital humanities studies are all welcome as long as they are based on current theories and solid methodologies. In addition to standard French, we are also interested in all Gallo-Romance dialects (including varieties such as Picard, Franco-Provençal, etc.). Survey Articles reviewing the state of the art in a major field will also be considered as well as work in progress for the French Research Notes section and Book Reviews. Special Issues are published once a year and suggestions are welcome year-round.La Revue d’Etudes de linguistique française est une revue bilingue qui publie des travaux importants sur la linguistique théorique et appliquée du français, y compris, mais sans s'y limiter, des études synchroniques et diachroniques axées sur la phonétique/phonologie, la morphologie, la syntaxe, le lexique et la sémantique.   • Medical History is a refereed journal devoted to all aspects of the history of medicine, health and related sciences, with the goal of broadening and deepening the understanding of the field, in the widest sense, by historical studies of the highest quality. It is associated with the Asian Society for the History of Medicine. The membership of the Editorial Board reflects the commitment to the finest international standards in refereeing of submitted papers and the reviewing of books. The journal publishes in English, but welcomes submissions from scholars for whom English is not the first language; language and copy-editing assistance will be provided wherever possible.

Modern Italy
