Materials Research Society Announces Vice President, Secretary, and New Board Members for 2017
The Materials Research Society (MRS) is pleased to announce the vice president, secretary, and new board members for 2017, elected by the Society’s global membership of almost 15,000.
Sean J. Hearne, Sandia National Laboratories, will serve as MRS Vice President beginning January 1, 2017. He will lead the board of directors as MRS President in 2018, and finish his three-year term as immediate past president in 2019.
In addition, Eric A. Stach, Brookhaven National Laboratory, has been elected as MRS Secretary. He will begin his three-year term in January 2017.
The election also brings five new members to the MRS Board of Directors, who will each serve three-year terms beginning January 1, 2017. They are:
- Li-Chyong Chen, National Taiwan University
- Dawnielle Farrar-Gaines, Johns Hopkins University
- Claudia E. Gutierrez-Wing, Instituto Nacional de Investigaciones Nucleares (ININ)
- Lincoln J. Lauhon, Northwestern University
- Molly Stevens, Imperial College London
The term of current MRS Treasurer and chair of the MRS Finance Committee, David J. Parrillo of The Dow Chemical Company, was recently extended by the board for an additional two years, through 2017.
The MRS Board of Directors is the governing body of the Materials Research Society and is responsible for setting the strategic direction of major Society activities.
