page 123 note a The letter of Charnock here referred to did not reach those to whom it was addressed until after the receipt of the papal Brief confirming the appointment of the archpriest and compelling the submission of the malcontents. Bishop's letter had arrived “some 17 or 18 days” before the Brief (Colleton, p. 76).
