Summary
Some of the information provided in the table below has come from “The Organ Works of Franck: A Survey of Editorial and Performance Problems,” by Marie-Louise Jaquet-Langlais, and found in French Organ Music from the Revolution to Franck and Widor. Jaquet-Langlais indicates that most of Franck’s surviving organ manuscripts were given to the Bibliothèque du Conservatoire in 1947 by the composer’s granddaughter, Thérèse Chopy-Franck. However, “these sources were subsequently transferred to the Bibliothèque Nationale where they can be found today.” Additional information has come from Otto Albrecht’s 1972 article, “Musical Treasures in the Morgan Library” and Rollin Smith’s monograph, Playing the Organ Works of César Franck. Information regarding Franck’s chamber music comes from Katrin Eich’s study, Die Kammermusik von César Franck, examined above. When at all possible, specific call numbers or accession numbers have been given to facilitate future access by others.
